Problem
Free and expiring .fi domains come in long lists where most names are unusable, and the good ones are taken before anyone notices.
Value
Someone looking for a domain sees the best available names first instead of reading long lists, and gets a warning before a good name is released.
Written from this project
Role
Product definition, ranking rules for Finnish words, release-timing model and quality checks. Agents wrote most of the code.
- Defined a ranking that favours familiar, fluent Finnish words and follows the language’s compound and vowel-harmony rules.
- Built a model that estimates when an expiring domain is released and sends an alert ahead of it.
- Added a trademark screen so a candidate name is checked before it is registered.
- Kept a regression test for the ranking so a change in the rules is measured, not guessed.
Limits
- Describes the product and its ranking only. How the data is gathered, the word lists and the candidate names stay private.
